Aspen

Got back late last week from a great trip to Aspen where we shredded the slopes for three days.  Aspen Mountain (called Ajax by the locals) and Aspen Highlands were on the first day.  We felt like we owned the place since we couldn’t see anyone else on some of the trails. Definitely a welcome change from the typical East coast crowds.  With great conditions on the first day, we just didn’t think it could get any better.  After a day off from boarding, we explored the back country on snowmobiles.

Waking up to seven inches of fresh pow overnight, we headed to Snowmass and were even early enough to make first chair. Probably one of the best shredding days we have ever had but all the powder wore out our legs. Even though Snowmass is the largest of the four, we tore up most of the mountain. All the lifts close at 3:30, but on our way down, we found the only chair that ran until 4pm so we got a couple more runs in from mid-mountain before they closed.

The last day we hit up Buttermilk (home to the X-Games) in the morning with first tracks through the corduroy.  It was amazing to hit up the superpipe where Shaun White got a perfect 100 just two weeks ago. Buttermilk’s a small mountain compared to the rest so after shredding it up all morning, we headed back to Snowmass to explore the rest of the mountain.  Going until close again, we didn’t want to leave the mountain and all that great Rockies pow.

We met people from all over (Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Georgia, Jersey and Colorado). The trip gave us a lot of inspiring ideas that we’re working on to turn them into some great designs.  Check out our store soon for our new gear.
